In 2016, a group of people in recovery from opiate use disorder and their allies traveled to Guatemala to build a school in an underprivileged village as an out-of-the-box therapeutic recovery service project. This group of people in long-term recovery evolved into a weekly support group that focused on the self-care aspects of recovery, what is going well in their lives, including goals, dreams and vision. This community then evolved through peer coach training ultimately leading to the opening of our official RCO, our community center clubhouse in Cherokee County,GA which is peer-led and inclusive of all recovery pathway. This is our social hangout for our community that is committed to a drug and alcohol-free lifestyle.
